Hello,

I was planning to do a dry run for the swirl flap removal, EGR cleaning and engine breather check/replacement but I am having a little trouble removing the engine cover. It appears that after removing the 5 bolts there is some kind of clip/bolt under the cover which is preventing it from being removed. I am hoping this will be the only trouble I have because I am completely new to DIY on cars and would hate to mess anything up. The only reason I am attempting to this is the great posts by various members giving detailed instructions.

I have attached pictures and circled the culprit - any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers
Jas

Just rip it off after removing the 5 bolts.

It's a push connector, ease it up either side and it will release.

Found this guide on EGR cleaning previously, could be useful : Linky

It's for an E39 but it's similar enough, just wish I found it before changing my oil breather!

Just rip it off after removing the 5 bolts.
Before you refit it,smear a little silcone grease around the plug and the rubber grommet for next time.
