When installing a new grill make sure you remove the indicated hard plastic piece first (as I recall it just snaps out?may be a couple screws). This will give you some access to the back of the grill and make install much easier

the black plastic strip lifts up you will have to look for the clips to squeeze in along it.
the grill is held in with 3 clips on top 2 on the bottom and one at each side, these have to be pushed down and the grilled pulled towards the front at the same time. watch the clips on the black insert when removing it as they break very easily and I mean easily. I broke 3
Good luck

Thanks for the great information. I just installed the new Chrome grill during lunch time in company's parking lot. The hard plastic piece with weather strip on top was clipped onto the top of the front bumper. 2 clips in the middle and 3 clips on each side.

The top 3 clips on the grill were very easy to undo after taking off the top hard plastic piece. The bottom 2 were Ok. I used a long screw driver to push the "center piece" of the clips from under. Hands went inside the front bumper via the opening of the radiator. The 2 side clips were pain in the neck. It took me a few minutes to undo them. I started with the driver side grill. Once the driver side grill was out. I had so much room to put my hand inside the bumper to undo the other grill. The passenger side grill came out in less than 2 minutes.

New chrome grills were snapped back in place very easy.

Okay, I just tried to remove my grills. Took off the plastic liner on top to expose the top clips (there are no screw BTW). Granted my hands were cold as heck in the 20 degree weather outside, but I couldn't get the clips to budge. This HAS to be a two man job. One pushing the clips down and one pulling the grill out, no? I can't see how one person could get those out without breaking the clips. Any other suggestions?

Hey folks,
I changed my grilles last year on 2005 530i.
It is easier to access area behind main grill if you remove
the lower grill at the bottom of the front bumber.
It is plastic and clipped on somehow.
This way you can put your arm up thru
that opening instead of further down.
Trust me, makes it a lot easier.

Does it snap out, away or towards you? I tried but it seem like it requires a little more force and I'm afraid that I will break something. Please help.
