I am replacing my OEM BMW emblems with carbon fiber versions and want to know if there is a secret to getting the steering wheel emblem off. Thanks in advance!

I think you can't change the steering wheel emblem...

I have the same ones.
the steering wheel emblem is just a sticker.
stick it over the existing one.
I thought it was kinda stupid/cheap.

Well I did it! You all are right it is not meant to be replaced but I am stubborn or stupid or both! Anyway I used a thin putty knife with rounded edges and forced it in to the emblem. I used pliers and tore it out going clockwise and using a twisting motion. At the end I still have 5 small metal tabs that I bent over so they would be flush to the center of the steering wheel. Then I heated up the new emblem (with a hair dryer) for extra adhesion and applied it. I am happy. I will take pics tonight.

Thanks,
Tobey

I did the same thing!I just got a knife under it and kept pulling it off, made a right mess of it so it had to come off,the new carbon fibre one look's to fit perfectly.

I would keep in mind that this is the airbag, so removing the clips means that nothing is anchored..... that emblem might become a throwing star if you ever are in an accident.

Here is an image of how it turned out...everything looks good and is intact. The integrity of the the airbag was not affected.
