Hi guys:
I bought a sprint booster for my 04 545i auto. But the first time I install it, it shows engine malfunction and cruise control disable. So I took it off and the problem goes away. I checked the pins and reinstall the SB, and it seems to work well. But after about 70 miles, when I was driving on the highway, the same problem occurred, and the computer forced a reduction in engine power. Anyone knows what is going on? Thanks very much.

Welcome to the forum
Try look on bended pin in your SB cos they do cause the problem sometime, and make sure you install in the right way (see the numbers on the SB and your car's socket)

Thanks, Keith. Will the sprint booster damage the engine? Should I try reinstalling the SB for the third time?

first time ive heard of a cruise control error. the pins have been the most common problem with the sprintbooster i think. you could check the parts mods section and e60 discussion. there are numerous discussions on the sb.

welcome and enjoy the forums.

I had the same problems, but I don't have a sprintbooster installed

My problem was that the battery was bad.

The e60 doesn't notify you that the battery is bad, starting goes OK, but cruisecontrol gives an error while driving and while the cruise control wasn't activated.
A few seconds later an engine malfunction will be reported.

My battery died after 2 years

Make sure the #'s are in the correct order, and make sure you push the connector all the way in . Some time people have had issues with it not being plugged in all the way, # not matching up ( basicly the SB is installed up side down), or a bent pin.
