Hi, new to the board
Picked up an E60 on July 13th and definitely an awesome car. Can see why it's loved.

I recently submitted a few requests to several breakers' yards for a sport steering wheel. One of them got back to me today with a good price on the steering from a 2005 645ci that had suffered low-level flood damage. Round airbag and trim included. Only 5K miles. There is a thread on this board that I read earlier about different year cars having variations in the steering wheel fitment. Our car is a 2004 E60 5 series, Manual. Someone suggested that the difference in fitment was due to the fitting of the starter button in later models. We have the regular key ignition. Far as I know, the 645ci from '05 also has the regular key ignition (uncertain?).

Does anybody know if it will be possible to fit this steering wheel? Thanks in advanced.

If the one u bought is on the left, it'll fit. If you have the one on the right, you need to do some modification like some member did it here.

lol thanks cliffy

The price I have been offered is ?400 ($800-ish). I have found the wheel (buttons and black 'M' trim) for about ?270 on ebay - if this salvage yard gives me the airbag for a fraction of the price, I could secure a deal for less than ?400

I just need to know if the 6 series offers an airbag that's compatible with the 5 series. Does anyone know if any issues will arise, or if it's even possible?

Thanks again

Hey Rich
Thanks for that, great find - just checking up with the breakers yard to see how much the airbag will cost me, if the numbers are right, I'll seal the deal

Cheers

RuFFy welcome to the best Forum!

On your wheels, do not buy e63 as that is not the same as e60.

Furthermore you talk about the M sport or normal sports or which steering. (M sports is the best and it does not cost that much). There are also some tuners sports 3 spoke wheels, make a search here.
