Default Should I replace the HPFP?

I just purchased a 2008 535xi with 80,000 miles. The CarFax service report does not indicate that the HPFP was replaced, but I am reading all over that this is/was an issue for this car.

Should I be concerned and just do it myself? Am I still eligible for the recall even though the CarFax doesn't show it to have been recalled?

I have much mechanical experience so I'm sure I could do it myself with some instructions if need be.

Thanks,

Rob Caldwell

If it ain't broke, you know the rest.

There are people still on the original pump. There are also people who are on pump number 7 or 8. There's really no rhyme or reason as to why one car has no issues and another goes through pumps like a fat kid in the pop-tart aisle.

maybe you're one of the lucky ones.

There is no recall, just an extended warranty implemented. Take the money and go buy you a JB4!
