Shift Knob

Anyone know what is involved in removing the factory shift knob (stick shift) and also the the handbrake handle.

The E60 shift knob is a press-fit device. Therefore all you need to get it off is a firm pull upwards. Be careful not to bonk your forehead.

Same for the automatic? I just ordered the wooden version for the automatic.

thanks I just save some cash from changing the acs shift knob myself.
so easy to do, must be the easyest thing in the car to change

Yep. Grab and pull. And mind your head. A little twisting motion helps, though the knob won't actually twist.

Place shifter on 2nd gear, move driver's seat all the way back, and pull on knob (one hard pull).

no need to put into gear just pull up

OK, so we've covered the shifter. Anybody know how to swap out the handbrake?

there is a mod of handbrake change on do it yourself ,use search its your freind
there are 2 good posts very innstructive
