His car seems to up and running, the belt wasn't rubbing against anything. I'll text him today for an update.

a very nice write up! thanks for this thread i really in need to replace my accessory belt tensioner. by the way i need to buy a new one. ck-e60 may i know where is the warehouse here in california or their number rather. thanks a lot.

looks like the bolt is broken. i'd get that fixed asap.

the tensioner is not all that expensive even at the dealer. under 100 if i remember right.

that's exactly what it was. had to tear out the fan, belts, covers, etc. etc. to get enough clearance for the new bolt. We removed the plastic cover protecting the underside of the engine and out came the top of the bolt. We're thinkin' whoever touched his car last, must have over-tightened it.

This DYI video is not for N62 engine. It was supposed for M54 engine. However, when I did my M54 engine belts (serp. and AC), information from video was not 100% matched to what I saw during the replacement. You need to remove the fan assembly in one piece instead of the fan blade itself.
