In the BMW satnav retrofit instructions at the end the engineer is told to go through the "Sat nav retrofit path" or so.. Does this also apply to 2nd hand equipment? My question is: If I get the progman updated first to correspond to the dealer's current version, then install the hardware myself (2nd hand ccc and other stuff), then take it back to BMW, can I just ask them to do the "Sat nav retrofit path" or do they need to do something special because of the already coded ccc?

Has anyone done the 2nd hand retrofit and had their car programmed at BMW?

Thanks in advance for any answers.. If anyone knows where I could reach someone with the "Autologic" software in Germany (isn't Autologic the one that doesn't necessarily require the latest progman?), I'd be very thankful for the info as well

yes, follow the same procedure. I bought my parts on ebay and the BMW dealer did the programming.

My car has sat prep.

does that mean that i have GPS antenna pre-installed inside of shark-fin?

I am doing retrofitting as well with help from iCharles (thanks)

I, so far, have monitor and CCC.
i am planning to
-buy generic GPS antenna off ebay
-reuse LDVS cable
-buy center console trim from a dealer

I hope it goes successful.
I am planning to take my car this weekend for PROGMAN update prior to installation

How can you know if your car is pre-wired or not?

I installed 2nd hand CCC and went to the BMW. They've done everything they can. After that thay told me that is not posseble because 2nd hand CCC has a code inside, that let it to be installed once ! I mean it's not going to work on another car. Once CCC installed and programed, it belongs to this car only.
I think it could be hacked some how to clear this code.

That's a load of crap,BMW don't like to retrofit anything unless they make ?????'s out of it and to be honest 99% of the technician's that work there will tell you it can't be done,I managed to source a second hand Pro nav(complete) from ebay for ?600 and got a local BMW specialist to retrofit it,I went from no nav to full pronav for a total of ?400 which included a full software upgrade and install, they supplied the GPS antenna and the cd changer mounting bracket and while they installed it they did the mp3 update on the cd/dvd headunit.

Just find someone who know's what they are doing!

all the wiring is there jazzy, you can even use your LVDS cable (thats the long thick one that goes from your old mas-k cd to the monitor) all you might have to do is shave/cut off a little bobble from the alloy sleave, to fit properly, then for ?8 just buy the fan wiring harness and the voice wiring harness, go to any good car radio shop and buy a aftermarket gps antenna, saves pulling your headlining down etc to fit a new sharks fin ariel, and put up by the rear view mirror workes perfectly, its all plug and play. not all need coding but most do.
i-drive is a pain to change but there are cheats...

its an easy job mate have courage.
Hello Dr Dave,

Do you sell your consultancy / installation services for these satnav upgrades? It would appear that I am geographically nearby & have 08 E61 with no Nav, just fitted ipod kit yesterday but yet to get it coded.

Done various nav/BT/DIS Audi / VAG upgrades in the past but the Bimmer seems to be a whole lot less accessible to mere mortals

Hi Sanj,

After the upgrade, how did your audio sound?

Lack of bass or normal?

Thanks
