A friend of mine is wondering if it is possible to retrofit a 6 series design cup holder in his E61?
Has anyone done this?
Or is it just impossible due to the mounting angle to the console?

as AlexFW said, "nothing is impossible" but i havent seen it done.
all you really need is a wedge of plastic so you can fill in the difference in angle from the cup holder'smounting to where ever you want to install it in the car. then just round out the plastic wedge so it loooks good and then paint it.

Theory.....
but WHY hasn't it been done??
The cupholder-slot goes in quit deep, so you need some room underneath the console where you want to put it.

Someone needs to take a drill and sawz-all to a junk yeard and attack an E60 console to see if you can drill out a place for the cup holder tab. Then its a matter of cleanly fitting the mount for it into the hole.

perhaps it's the price of the cupholder that limits experimenting. I seem to remember 150+ euro for that little thing..
That may explain. On the six it was a free option!
But I do love the design though
