Ola from the Netherlands!! I've tried the manual that has been posted here.
Unfortunatly i'm not able to come to the "reset?" part.

But can it be so that the reason why is that the messages are already in red and maybe due for more then 20.000km?
(no worries, i'm very keen on my oil change)

But i want to get rid of the messages, for my front brake pads, oil and microfilter changes......

My 525D is from 2005 though.

Hope to get a clear answer what i'm doing wrong, or is my problem that i'm just "late"?

Thanks for helping me out people

Take a look at the last few posts, the red warning was mentioned by pszyman. If it was only your oil service warning in red,a reset is possible, but the other items cannot be accessed.Since you have a number in red, reset will no doubt be a dealer job.

I did it on mine three times.

once for oil change, (second change - 40000 km - 2 years)
once for brake fluid change (2 years) not changed Because of 40000 km.
& once for the microfilter (not changed - Just cleaned)

It works.
Try it, but don't reset any item. Just to understand the way it works.

Hi there,

Can you please advise the location of the microfilter that you have changed?A photo of that would be great.
Thanks

I tried the tachometer reset method above and it worked fine for me. Took me a few minutes to reset the oil meter. Just make sure you turn the ignition on; with the start/stop button model, turn ignition on by pressing start/stop button while leaving the brake pedal off (to avoid starting your engine).

This thread really is awesome! I set out this weekend to change my oil, filter and reset the oil meter. Many thanks to MiamiPhil, Kev, xe460 and the forum in general. The oil and filter change was straight forward however, reseting the oil meter took some time. I own a 2008 model 535i and I would have spent awhile scratching my head without the tip on the start/stop button while leaving your foot of the brake. That was the key for me to crack the code. Thanks a million.

These instructions worked very well for me too so thanks for posting - the only issue is even after resetting the oil and filters, I still get the "Service Overdue" bing on start up and in the I drive. Any ideas?

Press the tacho reset button in the instument cluster about 10 seconds with the key to on position, until "service" appears, then change selection with a sigle push
until "engine oil" appears. Keep pushing the "reset " ask yes? and that's all. Next oil change after 25000 Km appears on the idrive "service"menu.
Beware, not to reset another function, there is no way to restore a reseted item.

Regards.
Which one is the Tacho reset button?
