Thumbs down

Okay,
I was excited with the installation of my 10mm H&R wheel spacers back in August 2006. Now that I have 12mm spacers available and a lot of time these days, I've decided to replace the 10mm with 12mm. I've done the search on how to remove and found this little tidbit:

I agree If you mix different types of metals like alloy to steel than you will get the metal frozen to one another. Anti-seize solution may work also. It happened to me once and not even a air-rachet could remove the bolts. I would use some kind of lube and check it often. FYI
There's more but I'm not going to keep quoting them. You can find the thread here: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=147943. I highly doubt that the guy that installed my springs and spacers lubed the spacers with anti-seize compound. If I can't find a way to remove the spacers, it looks like I'll have to destroy the 10mm. Can anyone help me out? Thanks.

I would recommend that anyone that just installed spacers removed them and lube with anti-seize before putting them back on.

if soaking everything in lube won't work, i'd assume that putting some heat to it would. i've done it before on seized metal. just not my 5er.

Yes! They are a b!tch to get off. I used a chisel and a hammer going around the edges of the spacer and eventually it came off.

Wouldn't the steel chisel damage the aluminum spacer? Well, I'm going to give it a shot anyway. I was going to sell the 10mm, but if it gets damage so be it. I still have my 12mm.

I had the same problem trying to get my wheels of, the Ally wheels were welded to the steel hub.

I had to hit two of the tyres repeatedly with a sledge hammer to break the 'weld'.

Now I make sure a put some 'copaslip' on the hubs every time the wheels come off.

No help to yuo I know, but good luck Vegas.

There's overall a lot of doubts of the spacers.

First, they kill the factory settings by wider the axel radious.

Second, they for sure will set the bearings etc. for a bigger force than planned.

Third, are they really good for the driving emotion?

And now this...

If factory would think those are good, those would have been there since new...
Mine also, I noticed was those stupid plates. i asked the sale guy:"what are those?, They are spacers. Aha, I said, What are those good for?, they make 275/35/18 to look even more better, Aha, I said and what they do for bearings?, Hmm, was the answer. I said: Can You remove those immidiatelly?, Yes, we can"!
Don't know how tight they have been, anyway after 20 min the car was in normal condition.
