First you pry the map light down (you could you a screw drive but becareful_. Press a bit hard down and it will pop out
Then the rest just comes out by pulling on it. I recommend diconecting the wires from the sockets . It makes the work easier

Don Juan,
I can't see where it is, I guess that is kudos to you. Can you point out where the detector is in the pic. All I see is what looks like the rear view mirror mount. If that is the V1 that i think I see, that is a nice install.
Congrats!

The red & black wire and the little black box is the A/C wiring that came with my V1. It sits normally tucked in and nice, but I pulled out for you guys to see
[B]You connect the red wire (Hot) into the green/yellow cable from the compartment. this is the one that has the juice and it is connected to the ignition on/off . Again all these parts are from my V1 kit. For other radars you could buy these adapter at Home depot or radio Shack

Now you need to connect the ground (Black wire). I found a nut attached to one of the roof beams. It is perfect but you may need to get the right tools because is a pain in the f..g neck to loose the nut and then tie the nut. You could alos drill on the frame and add a new screw. That is up to you

Finally turn the key and make sure the radar powers on. Sometimes the clip on the green/yellow wire may need some additional squeeze. WOALA!.. Put everything together and align the radar how ever you want it. I like it as close to the celing. So far it works perfect front and back.

[B] Oh, I forgot to mentioned the powere cord to the V1. Once the top compartment is open, you will need to pull the headliner (the part that is touching the windshiled) a bit down; so you can introduce the wire from the inside o the compartment ot the ooutside of the liner. For this you just need your fingers and patience.

Don Juan that is a great clean install i live in Va where detectors are illegal as is everthing else i wish the detector was smaller and i would try it. you should have done the electrical tape thing while you had it all out lol. Does your sunroof work with the key off and do your mirrors, seats, and steering wheel automatically set for the different keys as in move automatically when your wife unlocks the doors with her key? Also can you take a full side shot of your car so the wheels can show i am thinking about 19 lm's 19 rxll or 19 breyton spirits but can not get a good pic of them as tirerac pic is too small and not well defined. Would love for someone to photoshop it for me on a black 530i non sport at the regular height
