I saw a lexus is250 with what looked like cut outs where the light projects, and subtle tint all around. Has anyone done that before? I was also considering doing plastx and following up with Laminx, if someone could shed light on a very subtle tint film that would be awesome

You can use VHT nightshades mix it in with the clear. I've done this. You think it looks black but with 5-6 coats it's very light. I used a shot of pure black paint in my clear...it does the same. you have to be careful though with black. So in this case VHT is great and has a bluer black tint. Rustoleum makes a black out tint similar and it is cloudy and grey. But if you mix that in with your clearcoat before you add the hardener you'll probably get the look you want.

sweet. I might give the a car painter the color code, and have him just mix me a can of paint, then mix that in with a clear top coat to finish off the headlight with actual color matched tint! subtle of course, but I do need some guidance with clear coats. PPG?

PPG is usually what I use because it's aggressive and sticks very nice. I have gallons of it too. But if you're on a budget an automotive clearcoat would do. The painter should already have some in stock. I've done friends' headlights and just charge for laquer thinner for cleanup since I have enough clear and hardener on hand.

BG makes a really really nice all in one kit I use at my shop.. My cost is probably $30-$40 & i sell it at $69 diy or $139 if my clients have me do it.. You guys can surely find it online.but this comes with cleaner, sand paper, and new special clear coat and applicator with a 2 or 3 yr guarantee tho i forget which.
