My Ride: E61 525iA Build 2004/08. "Safirschwartz Metallic". Navi Pro, Adaptive Headlights, Bi-Xenon, Panorama Sunroof etc... CIP 18.00.01 (No noticed bug)
Thumbs up

After reading about all issues with bluetooth, I realized that I wouldn't buy the bluetooth option. I have now waited for several months for a good solution, and at last I found SonyEricsson HCB-700 Car Handsfree (w bluetooth).

My simple question now is where I can find 12 V power (not the cigarett lighter or the power outlets) in my E61? I have two options; find power close to the armrest/console (no - I don't have cigarette lighter in the console for rear passanger) or close to the steering wheel. The power should be switched off when ingnition is off.

Of course there are many power sources, but i'd like to find the easy ones (and of course one that isn't making the iDrive start alarming). I would consider this as a DIY-job!

There might even be someone that already fitted a HCB-700? Any good tips?

Just tap off the green wire going to one of the cig lighters in the front. Easy as pie. If you need more than 5 amps of power (which you won't from a cell phone charger but I need to say this), don't take it all from this wire however. Have it trigger a relay that takes 12v from a wire and fuse that you run from the front fuse box.
