I purchased a visor mount from VetteMods.com
Here are some pics that show the position.
Clear View, Mount is attached to Visor mount:

With Visor Down - V1 does not obstruct Visor from coming down.
![place the v1-img_4255_2.jpg](https://5series.net/forums/attachments/diy-do-yourself-14/53334d1482364297t-place-v1-img_4255_2.jpg)
Also note that V1 can be removed easily by sliding out (towards the back seat). So it can be taken home or put in glove box and locked.
Power to lights above mirror.
This is on a 2008 528i
If you do purchase the mount you will have to work it a little bit as it does not fit to well, but with a little effort and 2 pairs of pliers you can get it done.
I also have a V1 Remote Mount that I installed inside the Idrive window. I know you guys are gonna think, "why have a remote if your V1 is near the mirror"? Well the answer is I was experimenting with mounts and "hiding" the V1, and lets just say I am still doing so.

What year is your car, you need to take special car on the 08 535's due to the wiring being different than what is listed in the DIY's. I don't know about the other 08's, I think there are some 550's that have no problem's. It's been noted in one of the DIY's but I don't think there has been any resolution to the problem. I just plugged mine in under the dash in the passenger side foot well, and ran the power cord up the A pillar, across the head liner and out around the Rear view mirror.
Not too tough.

Still have issues with my installation on my 08 535. Pulled the power from the overhead wire bundle as well documented in this and other threads. My V1 worked great - flawless - for about 4 months and then it started to act weird. First all the lights would come on as if there were 8 bogeys all around me with the audible warnings blaring. Then it wouldnt power on at all. I tested the unit, so I know it works fine. I switched out all of the connection parts, too. The unit only has power now when the sunroof motor is opening the sunroof. After the motor opens up, the unit goes dead again. I have the unit directly plugged into the cigarette lighter and it works fine, but much prefer a hardwire solution. Any thoughts/help is appreciated.

Take a look at the pic. This is from a 2008 528i.
Its the 2nd Pin/Wire, Red with Yellow Stripe.
I mentioned this somewhere on a board but did not get feedback if it worked for them.
Try this and let us know.

I powered mine off the light module and not the Sunroof module.

Since I have been moving the V1 around for "best" placement I did have a few places.
This is where I originally had it, however I just took a picture for you now and noticed that this screw does have a plastic backing in the back.
You can try it and see if it works for you. Due to me having many configurations I do not recall if that worked or not (Sorry).
This picture is the Sunroof Module

This is where I currently have it.

I had to run the cable down the left pillar and down to this location.
The light module here comes out by just popping it out. However start on the "right" hand side to pop it out.
This is on the drivers side, just left of the steering wheel.
![place the v1-v1_ground2.jpg](https://5series.net/forums/attachments/diy-do-yourself-14/53363d1482364297t-place-v1-v1_ground2.jpg)
Hopefully that helps.

2005 545i. I love it how I can place it on the top of the windshield. I dont like it sitting low on the windshield. Plus it makes it more conceal. Last time I got pulled over in my CLK55, my detector was mounted on the bottom. The officer said "well, your detector isn kinda useless." He paced me.
You realize I'm talking about the power adapter , not the detector, It (detector)by my rear view mirror....
I 've had a v1 since my first E30 (in the mid 90's), I know where to put it correctly for good reception.
So far it has not been a big issue till my mom with a cast on right foot, kept unplugging it with her foot.

Thanks for your response. Where did you run the ground wire?
