My Ride: BMW 530d, AC front lip, AC rear boot spoiler, AC rear roof spoiler, M6 alloy wheels.

I did it a few weeks back and it was easy, thought it may look a bit rubish but was amazed by the results. If you take your time and do it properly then it looks great.
You cant tell that mine is not real oem shadowline trim.
And its got to be easier than removing your trim to paint it.

My Ride: 2007 530i. Purchased 6/28/07. I see flaking in your future. Beware the pressure wash.
