Need help.. Hard wiring the v1..

Yeah - I just did mine also. The problem is most likely that the wire tap did not pentrate the insulation of either the green/yellow wire or the red V1 wire. Make sure both wires are firmly seated in the grooves of the metal wire tap piece. A firm squeeze with the pliers is needed to assure the connection is complete. Also make sure you firmly affix the ground wire to a metal source. One more suggestion is to double check the fuse is not fried from prior attempts to power up. I just did the install on my 08 550 so it is fresh on my mind. Good luck!
I have an '08 535xi and I'm hitting the same problem. I tapped the green/yellow wire leading to the rain sensor. When I check the voltage, my multimeter only reads a bit under 3 volts and yes, the car is on.
One thought that comes to mind, do all the other connectors need to be plugged back into their respective slots (sunroof switch, etc.) in order for full voltage to come through for some reason? Or maybe I'm getting a low voltage reading because the tap isn't secure enough?I can't imagine that if it works on an '08 550 that the wire wouldn't produce the exact same result in an '08 535xi.
Final question, I read somewhere else that someone had a problem with their rain sensing wipers after the install. Anyone here have that problem?

Just a quick update...I remembered in my X5 that in the passenger footwell there was a switched 12v power source. For some reason the first time I looked in the e60 I didn't find it. Tonight I decided to look again and sure enough, there it is in the top left corner of the passenger footwell (you have to look up under the dash). Plug in your V1 cigarette lighter adapter and presto, switched power that is totally hidden.
So if anyone else decides to not bother tapping any wires, you can always go this very simple route.

I just tried installing mine into the green/yellow wire that leads to the rain sensor and for some reason even though it's grounded it's still not power up. I also noticed that my homelink is no longer working, anyone have any suggestions to this? I checked the #56 fuse using 5 volts and that fuse is still good.
