I am getting ready to install my new M5tech front bumper that I picked up from Umnitza, but I have been reading on here that the headlight washer bracket/lever might need to be modified. Does anyone have any info or details on what needs to be done.

i also read somewhere that you need to buy the mtech levers and shave them down to fit?


any help would be appreciated.

For the front washers It's basically trimming the front bumper so the washer backing plate can slide easily when the pump activates.
It's straight forward when you try to put the OEM spring into the aftermarket brackets.
You may need grinder or dremmel kit.

If you have PDC, you will also need a lot of trimming to make the PDC look flushed w/ the bumper.

Not required:
OEM Mtech brake duct X 2 - install w/ zip ties.
16 FRONT LEFT BRAKE AIR DUCT M 1 51117896587 $33.90
16 FRONT RIGHT BRAKE AIR DUCT M 1 51117896588 $33.90
You will need to drill into rear OEM duct to create a hole where you can attach the Mtech duct w/ zip ties.

Front Mtech mid bracket X 2 - Part # 51117896611 -
You will need 2 more screws like the one you currently have another sets screws

Thanks for the info - I ordered the Mtech brake ducts yesterday, but not the adapters, damn

so you do need those adapters?? I thought maybe I would but wasn't sure.

PDC is going to be a pain for me. the bumper is drilled for 18mm but mine are 24mm. Have to expand holes and get new pdc mounts for back of bumper. this is not for the faint of heart.....

 

Not really need the adapters but those two adapters hold the mid lower section of the bumper other than the top and side bolts

The bumper isn't going to fly or wiggle even w/o these adapters but I ended up buying them anyways @ $17 a piece! :thumbsdown:
I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing any bolts.

 

I went ahead and ordered them. Better to be safe than sorry and I want it done right.

Thanks for the pics on the brake ducts - that is immensely helpful. I had searched around a lot and most people just don't even bother putting the duct back in, which I think is crazy.

 

Really so the M5tech front bumper doesn't come with brake ducts? At any rate, how does the air go through the duct? Aren't the fog lights in the way?

 

Nope. No ducts at all

The fogs are in the way but the middle lower opening eventually flows some air into the rear section of duct w/ some turbulence.
It' is not a "true" air passage that catch air directly at the grill.

The Mtech duct isn't a "bolt on" to the M5 rep.
I mounted them w/ zip ties to at least create a decent air passage into the rear section of the brake duct. I'm sure it's not as good as Mtech OE bumper w/ OE duct but it does the job

 

The 2 screws that hold mid brackets, is it #35 in that diagram?
