I mean from a standpoint that every single part no. is different...there is a reason for this.
Part nos. are different and in different sizes, but believe me, the mounting holes/bolts line up. You can put M5 brakes(rotors and calipers) in an M6, and also to other e60 and e63 models. Good luck!

How many POT's are there for the M5/M6 front and rear calipers? And is there a lot of brake dust with the OEM pads?

So have you noticed that you have less dust now with the M5 brakes vs. your OEM brakes? How will the larger rotors and stronger calipers affect my braking on the 530i? Is there any performance gain or is it mostly for aesthetics?

Maybe, I can't be sure about that .

Double stopping power, 4x less fading .. At Monza circuit, with OEM brakes it appears after 1-1.5 lap, with M5 brakes 4-5 laps at least .
Most of all, OEM brakes can't block the wheels, M5 brakes do that even from 250 kmh to 60 .
(the track asphalt is different from road one)

My Ride: Stock '08 550i with the M5 aerodynamic OEM package
Default

Pardon me but after reading the entire thread and all the links I'm as bit confused:

1. I definitely want to purchase cross-drilled rotors and need to know where to get them but I also need to know if I need to change out the calipers and thus the brake pads? The car in question is a brand new '08 550i.

2. Since everybody is painting, I'm guessing BMW does not offer calipers in different colors? What color would you go with on an all white 550 with 167 wheels? I think the red would look nice but might be too bold so I may just leave them black. I'm interested to see what you guys think honestly about the caliper colors. Which ones would you do?

You'd need calipers, pads and rotors from the M5!

1 and 2 (only rotors and not those plates)

Everybody who ?

No, M5 calipers are black .

I left them black and painted the rear calipers :
