Note: The template that came with the eBay Fender grilles were incorrect. I measured the correct placement on an M5 in the dealership.

Tools needed: Drill, electric auto body saw, painter's tape, and a rule.

I suggest doubling the tape to prevent scratches.

Drill a starting hole.

always want to do this mod but couldn't find the non M logo grill. Where did you get yours? The ones on Ebay and Trinity carry have that M5 logo.

Also, is there anything to be concerned about water leaking into the inner side?

Looks good!!!

Nice Joe! You went to work on that pretty quickly huh How long did the process take? I am a bit surprised that tool you used was sufficient in cutting it!

rctnthouse: the M5 logo can be taken off.

Thanks...didn't know that. Thought it was all one piece. Now have to find something to cut the fender with then I'm set to go.

I was taking it easy, so about an hour each side. I went to buy a pneumatic saw and a compressor but the guy who assisted me in the store showed me the auto body saw.
It was $28 minus 20% discount.

Nice work! Are those OEM grilles though? They don't have a flat spot for the M5 sticker, hence the ask. My OEM m5 grilles have a flat spot on them and I like the look of yours better(not to mention yours are all black as well). Congrats.

Oh wow, nice, guess I paid 10x more to get it done than if I had the right tool, lol.

They're BMW OEM E60 M5 Side Vent Fender Grille, Gloss Black Finish from eBay. They have a spot to affix the M5 sticker.

Riz,

By any chance do you still have the measurement of where the grill should be located above the side markers and how far from the edge? Really want to this cheap mod soon but there is no M5 around here for me to measure and the nearest BMW dealer is around 45 minutes away.

Thanks
