My Ride: UK 530i 2004 Auto
Default

I am having my UK E60 converted to LPG on monday
I have a 530 SE Auto Petrol 2004 reg and 50,000 miles

I get about 32 Miles Per Gallon (MPG) if I am very careful driving a mix of light town and motorway (about 50 Miles per day)
I get about 30 MPG when I go into London once a week ( return trip of 140 miles 100 miles on motorway)

If I am not carefull and enjoy the car I get about 28 MPG.

My conversion will cost ?1700 + VAT and will be the Prins sequential injection system

I am expecting to get about 24 MPG on LPG however as LPG is 60p /Litre and Petrol 120p/litre this should give me

48 MPG based on cost (MPGEC) Mile per Gallon Equivelant on Cost)

I calculate that as I do about 15,000 miles per year It should pay off after 18 months

(1 Gallon is 4.54 litres and 1 mile is 1.6 KM)

I will update the forum after I have new informatio.

Info on LPG-
I have a 530- its been converted to LPG for nearly 2 years, cost to run for fuel works out about 10p per mile, this includes enthusiastic driving. Payback for most quality systems, (I've got a BRC system) costing around 2k fully fitted is approx 26K miles. I've done over 50K since the conversion and would recommend it- by my estimate my car returns an equivalent mileage of approx 60 mpg, far better than the diesels, which you pay a 2k premium to buy anyway. You also have the advantage of being able to run on petrol if need be- I dont as the cost is so different. I've got a 70L fill gas tank- this gives me a range of 350 miles between fills and usually costs under?30 to fill, if bought in the right place- morrissons are selling LPG at 44.9p at present, if you live in the west country, you can get it for around 42p at Countrywide. Another advantage- this can be a biggie - is you are exempt from London congestion charge for a ?10 per year registration fee.
