I not sure what the problem is but my coolant light came on two weeks ago stating that I had to add more coolant because it was low and I added more coolant . Now two week latter I need to add more becuase it was low again. I do not know how I should go about checking this out. I have not let the car run and looked to see any leaks but does anyone know where I should start to check this problem I just want to be on the safe side . The car is not over heating It just gives me a low coolant message and it happen twice within the the past two and half weeks. I have an 06 530i and I thank anyone you for their help.

Our cars are notorious for having crappy coolant expansion tanks. There is probably a hairline size crack somewhere that coolant slowly seeps out of. Wipe it down, top off the coolant pay close attention to the tank for the next few days, and the hoses... Checkout realoem.com and get prices/product from getbmwparts.com

I just had problems with this. I went for about 3 months filling up with coolant, and went thru 3 of those $20 BMW bottles. It was the radiator return hose. Its the left hose. I also purchased the sensor with it. When I was replacing it, I could not get the sensor off for the life of me. I think the leak was actually coming from the sensor. I replaced both and have had any leaks since then.

I think that might be the problem but I cant see where its dripping from but it looks like its comming from a hose. I'm still watching it but the leak is very slow but it has to be somewhere I let you guys know when I find it thank you for all the information

Mine has a bunch of residue on the lower hose. Can't tell if its the sensor or the hose. I hear the hose connectors leak all the time.
