Ok, I found out a little something today going to a car garage that installs HID Xenon on these cars with OBCs. Anyways to get rid of the error, you can either use a resistor, on 35W ballasts and bulbs, or you can just use a 50W ballast and 50W bulb or 60W, and not deal with resistors at all. This applies to the fog light, and the halogen high beam or flash as some of you call it. Hope this helps some of you with the fog light xenon-matching retrofit, with actual xenon kit (ballast, igniter, bulb).

Hi! My first post here so bear with me. THanks for the info - my question is simple really. What make/model of bulbs would work best to retrofit the fogs? I would like LEDs or Xenons but do not want to bear with the OBC error. Is the resistor necessary? You suggest that perhaps a 50W bulb would work better as this would not be an issue? I am looking at the fogs only for now! THanks!

If you're putting blue halogens, nothign is needed, just plug and play. If you're retrofitting xenons with ballast, igniter, etc, get the 50W or 60W ballast and bulbs, it will be much easier than putting resistors. As for make and model, the bulb type is H7 if i remember correctly, and as for the brand, its up to you.

Thanks for the speedy reply. Which blue halogens do you reccomend? I do not know what the plug type is or what the brands out there are. What did you use for yours?

Blue halogens are not REAL XENON. No ballast or anything. If you're want to use Blue Halogen, I suggest www.umnitza.com, try the Predator Xenix. For my car, I used a REAL XENON kit.

I understand. I called PIAA and asked them for their input - they have a HALOGEN Xtreme Light Plus, Part # 19616 that is a 51W=115W bulb that is totally plug and play. The guy I spoke with said there are no issues with the OBC with installation. Here's the link:

http://www.shopatron.com/product/par...er=19616/353.0

My only worry is the OBC - what do you think of this part? How does it compare with the umnitza?

I already told you the answer. If its HALOGEN, you WONT get OBC ERRORS, no matter what bulb you buy, so no worries there. Secondly, I have never used any blue halogen in my fogs, so I don't know the quality, color, etc. I went directly from stock fog lights to Xenon fogs. As for your question of how PIAA compares with Umnitza, I do not know. I can't help you there. Maybe if you post in the Parts and Accessories forum asking which blue halogen fog to get, then poeple might chime in. This thread just talks about avoiding OBC errors.

How did the bulbs workout? Did the color match the Xenons color hue? Any issues with the install?

Thanks
