I just got some LED lights for my 5. 6418's which typically go in the cabin, floor board, glove box and lic. plate. I put one at the foot for both passenger and driver (blue) and also in the lic. plate (white).

Why is the onboard computer saying I have a bulb malfunction? Bulbs are working fine. Is there something that needs to be program or entered in the computer to use the LED's?

Anyone know the trick? I don't want to have to go to the dealer where they would obviously say, don't mod the car, or use the regular incandesent......

Any help would be great.

Thanks to all the 5 Owners. This site is cool.

Do you have a resistor wired to the license plate LED? If not, that may be the cause.

the licence plate bulbs are monitered by the light module hence the bulb warning, LEDS use lower voltage than regular bulbs so you will need a 10w 50 ohm resistor to fool the computer.
