My Ride: 04 545i HUD, comfort seats, PDC, moon roof, Logic 7, Nav, Steptronic, K7 and diffusers, Aux-in for iPod!

Hello folks,

here are some pictures of the iPhone3GS mount I made yesterday for my 545i. Finally, I have a mount that is easy to install, leaves no permanent marks, and puts the phone at the perfect position. It even rotates between landscape and portrait.

If any of you would like the lasercut pieces, let me know! I will be happy to make up a set with instructions, printed cutting guides of the metal bracket, and include all the hardware you need for your own install. I'll sell it virtually at cost, as the laser cutting shop has all the files I created. Parts have excellent fit, as I went through dozens of minor, incremental dimensional adjustments to get everything looking just right.

Please note the Kensington LiquidAux car kit with the remote controller which I mounted in as non-intrusive manner as I could. I don't even notice it, but it's right there where I need it. Together with bluetooth, I can finally fully enjoy my phone.

Cheers!
mike

Looks awesome. Nice work.

I attached my iPhone on the windscreen - using NAVIGON - but it really looks horrorbile in an e60.

I'll will retrofit Nav Business or Pro the next months.

Regards,
Tim

Yeah, I've gone through a few holders myself. Nothing I liked until now!

If you're interested in this mount, let me know.

Cheers, mike

My Ride: I have an 05 545i. It's a manual with a few options. This is my first BMW but I don't know how I'll ever be able to switch to something else.

Very nice! Now make one for the Palm Pre and you got yourself a customer

Sure thing! I just need to change the two "prongs" to fit anything you like. Everything else can stay the same. Seriously.

But, I would need some kind of template, and whether you keep your Pre in a holder or not. Just let me know. The laser shop charged $40 to cut those pieces, so I would charge you accordingly.

Nice work. Can you install it on the right side of the iDrive screen? And it looks like the rubber casing is required to avoid any scratching from the prongs.

not so easy, as it needs the bolt underneath the finish for a secure mount. there is no bolt that is convenient on the other side of the screen.

I use this Incase product in general, and yes, it avoids any potential scratches: http://www.goincase.com/products/det...r-case-cl59056 . It really maintains the look of the phone and gives great protection. Plus, I can dock the phone still.

I probably could change the prongs to fit the phone without any protection, but it's an unnecessary risk, I think. I would want the phone more securely attached no matter what. The alternative is a slot holding device, which I tried too but was way too big.
