I have just installed the led taillamps from auto-gym. They look great and took 10 mins to install. Problem is that the tailamp and the flashers are still normal bulbs. I found the right leds to use, but i need resistors. Anyone know what kind of resitor I should use when replacing #3 and #1 bulb with leds? Both use same style leds 1156.....(6ohm 50 watt?)
Thanks

For the 21 W bulbs use 10 ohm 20 W; for the 16 W, use 12 ohm 20W. In theory these are standard values, but the 12 ohm resistors may be a little difficult to find in high power versions; try with 10 ohm (or make a "12 ohm 20W" resistor with 1 x 10 ohm 10W in series with 5 x 10 ohm 2W in parallel).

AFAIK you do not need resistors for the turn indicators, as these are not monitored by OBC

Thanks for the info. If i dont use a resistor for the turn signals, they will flash fast as is a bulb was burnt. I am also confused because das and other members had posted that for the turn signals to use 6 ohm resistors, so i was thinking to use the same for the tail/brake lamp (#3) since it is the same wattage. Any suggestions anyone????

Ah - OK, so the blinker uses the load as part of the oscillator. Sorry - I had assumed it was fully self contained...

Then you can either put in a 4.7 ohm 50W resistor in parallel to one bulb each side (where there is space around it - it will be HOT!), or replace each bulb as above (i.e. front/rear = 10 ohm 20 W, side = 39 ohm 5 W).

A 6 ohm resistor - if you can find it; AFAIK it's not a standard value for 5% tolerance resistors (4.7 or 6.8) - will provide an equivalent load to a 24W bulb on a nominal 12V voltage.

Do these look like the correct ones:

Yep - they'll probably work OK (Assuming the LED lights draw about 10W of power in all). You'll need one per side. If after fitting these it is still blinking frantically, you can add a 10 ohm 20W in parallel.

guys I like this kind of addiction so keep us posted how you managed, my concern on No.3 bulb is this lamp was design to have the look of a nice LED but not the function, I am talking about the E60 OEM Hella made for BMW, then this was "copied" for creation of our LEDs. So the place where you would like to place LED bulbs I am afraid the lamp's stucture is not designed for that, no crystal look.

But I trust you so show it us, that you are right and I will say

Just ordered 4 resistors, 2 amber leds and 2 red leds. When I get them I will post results
