Carlin,
If you view that video I posted directly on youTube, you'll see in the comments that the creator posted a follow up that fixed his car. Seems like his issue was the mechatronics sleeve that was leaking fluid on the wiring.
Sadly, I've had several other rush projects since I posted, so that I haven't had time to touch my 528xi. It's sitting at a friends house, waiting for a slot in my garage to become available.

When I get time to work on it, I will post my results.

Just a followup, I finally got the time to do something with this vehicle. The fill plug was so crapped out, I gave up and took it to a local independent BMW shop my neighbors and friends use.

There was BARELY any fluid in the transmission, it was obvious that someone had attempted to go in there previously, and didn't know what the heck they were doing. Anyway, they replaced the mechatronics sleeve, dropped the valve body and replaced all the malformed seals, filled it with the correct tranny fluid (8 liters!!), an now it seems to be working just fine. I put about 70 miles on it today, a mix of city highway and its running surprisingly well.

Excellent description. Does anyone know if this is the same procedure for the 6HP21? I ordered the kit from CTSC for my particular transmission, I also see more sensors than I have in the kit, does anyone know what these 2 items I circled in the picture are?

MV3 solenoid (park lock). It's for E versions only

Ok i removed everything and waiting on parts. Can someone tell me if this is how the pin is supposed to be on the slider piece? Also once the mecha unit is down there is something that looks like a hook in the transmission that has something like a spring, is it supposed to be free play?

Replaced all seals and solenoids, added fluid, I have drive but hardly any reverse, I see the wheel moving while off ground, but when on ground it isn't strong enough. I may still need to add a bit more, I had 7 quarts in there so far and still not full, but I should have had reverse by now. Also, inside the pan I hear what sounds like a bracelet that is just loose, don't know what that is, old fluid looked dark and no metal was inside, nothing broken, deleted codes, that is it.

The code was always there? You need to be troubleshooting your EGS module. Could be faulty or a DME issue or something in between. This is where ISTA would really come in handy

I don't know a black piece on the mechatronic. I know you have the mechatronic that sits on the valve body. The EGS should be under the hood
