Can someone please explain to the uneducated mind what is the advantage of updating the daten files?

I'm not an expert, but I believe it is mostly for newer models. If you have an older model (I have a 2005 E60) it won't do anything.

Blood, I have updated it my INPA/NFS files, but looks like I have all the fault reading in German language now.
The main menu (INPA) is English, but the fault description is German nay help for that?
