Ok now I been quoted some silly prices..

?195 for the BMW retrofit and 2 hours labout which is about ?110+vat cheapest I got around London

Bringing the total to ?465 or so I was LIKE OMG!

Now can I pick up the part cheaper elsewhere ??

Also I have cd Prep but not a changer hence it wont be plug and play and will need programming...

Now if I asked them to enable cd will this still take 2 hours same sort of cost and I can install myself or will it be alot cheaper..

Also can only BMW update this or can any 3rd parties...

Was going down the Dension route but it does not sport I-MASK

I believe some reprogramming will be required anyway, probably contributing to the labour charge you have been quoted. I'd also be sceptical about self-installation given my first comment. Not 100% sure, though.

Had the iPod connector retrofitted into my car prior to delivery (I bought CPO), and they did mention programming. EUR 450 here, but I guess that's of little use to you, unless you're planning a long weekend in Amsterdam via the chunnel.

Hmmm well how much labour should they charge I have been told 2 hours by them where as installation guide says 45 mins...

No idea whatsoever. Would not be surprised if it was 45 mins to install and an hour plus for the reprogramming (someone more knowledgeable coud chime in on this). Sometimes the software programming does not take and they may need to repeat the exercise.

Like I said, mine was done as part of pre-delivery of a CPO car to me, so I never saw a breakdown of costs. From experience, this amount (# of hours and $$ per hour) varies, sometimes significantly, dealer to dealer.

I recently had a special offer through in the post from bmw and it was around ?350, maybe ?395. Anyway I thought it was a bit steep bearing in mind the ipod itself is less than two hundred. Wound probably order it on a new car instead of a cd changer though. If it was ?100 I would definately get it done though, as I suspect would a lot of other owners.

BMW sent me some BMW service special summer offers of ?350 inclusive of VAT for the 'seamless ipod connection'! I'm not sure if the dealer would honour this however, I don't know if the offer came from my dealer or BMW central. There was nothing particularly personalised for me, I would have thought most owners who whave recently bought the a car from a dealer would have had the same offers sent to them.

It was the rydale dealer group (part of sytner I now believe) this is a dealer group in South Wales and the midlands. Offer is valid till 30th September 07. I'm sure if your dealer called rydale service in either Cardiff or Newport they would confirm this current promotion. Don't have access to scanner unfortunately. Good luck.
