What affect does pounding that huge "U" shape into your exhaust pipe have on performance of the exhaust? Geez, that scares me more than any of this.
I thought these aftermarket exhausts were heavily R&D'd to perform at gains over OEM - I would think that the affect on the flow of air through a pipe that has been half way smashed closed would affect all that R&D somehow, right?

also for the US car I think you don't need to mod the pipes to fit.
also a member cut the pipe and welded a new 1 on and did not do the U channel.

I took on a pretty big project by myself this weekend... 
Ksport coilovers
M6 front and rear sway bar upgrade
Ultra racing 3 lower strut bars
RPI exhaust
R1 slotted and drilled rotors with Hawk HPS pads
I basically finished doing everything I had to do to the rear and will complete the front next weekend.
Lets just say that rear of my E60 is riding on rails.
I can't honestly give all the credit to the lower bars since I did so much all at once but I have no doubt the lower bars do indeed tighten up the ride since they are bolted to the subframe of the E60.
Didn't have any of the exhaust clearance issues either. I would definitely recommend this upgrade for those looking to tighten up the ride and reduce body flex.

yeah all us cars are ok for the exhaust clearance issues.
I think they design these for left hand drive cars lol

No. Actually, I have a problem with that. The exhaust is in the way, so the last bar is not installed. In any case, the car feels a lot tighter on corners. To clarify, I also have the sway bars replaced (OEM --> aftermarket) during the install.

I guess it all depends on few things.
Type of exhaust.
Where exactly you cut your old exhaust.
Condition of the rubber hangers.
I have about a good centimeter of clearance minimum between the RPI exhaust and the middle lower bar.

I've been looking for something like this for the front in particular. I'm switching to a staggered setup and want to reduce understeer which will now be increased (I have an xi). Please forgive a couple of potentially dumb questions; is there any reason not to install this on an xi, and, I have seen that sway bars should not be installed on cars with ARS. Can these be installed with ARS?
