most likely it's because that area has never seen the light of day so the color is off now. you may be able to use some wax and make it shiny but i dont htink there is much you can do.

The mark left by the emblem is no doubt due to a chemical reaction on the clearcoat caused by the emblem adhesive and you cannot polish it out.
Age seems irrelevant,I have seen this on a new car which was debadged.I'll keep mine rather than having paintwork done on the car to hide the "shadow".

Hi guys

I just debadged my 525i tags with the floss & 3M adhesive removed. Worked like a charm. It took me 3 minutes!

But the emblem left a mark. Not sure exactly how to explain it, but you can still see the marking it has left on the car. It's like a shallow 525i mark on it.

Any ideas on how to remove that?

Thanks
I got a similar experience, when I debadged my 535 Xdrive that included removing the X drive badges on the side of the car.
I used "goo gone" to remove the adhesive residue. Washed carefully the areas where the tags were. Then I used a clay bar with lots of quick detailer and to finish it off I applied a polish/wax(Klasse AIO). Can't tell there were badges anymore.

No worries.
I?m using BMW colorsystem for the small scratches and its really working well!
If that mark isn?t bad you could try to rub that with this paste. Its polishing only the clear coat so it might not work but theres no harm done from trying
I?m using only the paste and a cloth, not those sanding pads.

Ou jeah mate! This invention has saved my nerves soooo many times. This week my car was at the dealer and again they managed to scratch the clear coat

I rubbed those marks with this polishing paste for 15 mins and then with the finishing paste and after that couple of layers of hard wax and its perfect (of course not as perfect as Anzafin has). No scratches or any marks visible.
