Thumbs up

Can someone tell me how to replace the fog light bulbs on the E60? I would like to replace the yellowish factory bulbs with the PIAA Extreme Whites. There are no instructions in the owner's manual on how to access the fog light assemblies, which are behind the black grill inserts on the fascia. I presume the grill inserts are removable, similar to the E39 setup. Perhaps someone can provide TIS documentation on what appears to be a simple operation.

Thank you.

The way i replace them is to remove the headlights, its suprisingly simple. There are two large screws on top that take a Torx screwdriver, and two gold 8mm screws (they have torx bits on top, its better to use a socket though. Remove the torx screws and loosen DON'T REMOVE THE BOTTOM SCREWS, if you do you will lose them. Before removing the assembly you have to take off the high beam bulb cover (its a 2-3 inch plate you unscrew) put it to the side, now you have to gently sllide the headlight out, its a little complex, but you can do it. In the long run, the first one should take about 20 minutes, the second one should take about 5-10 minutes. Really easy. After that look straight down and the headlights are right there, reach down and grab the bulb and twist and its all yours. In the long run it shouldn't take more than an hour. I wish you luck and email me if you have any questions, i'll probably be doing a headlight change to xenon beams and do a write up about it.

welcome aboard, xrsxj ! some of us did it and it took us less than 20 minutes . our methods are a little different but basically is remove the panel from the bottom. it's a lot easier than remove the headlights .

Here's the instructions I used:

I went with PIAA Xtreme White 4150K bulbs, which match the BMW xenons (which are 4200K) very well--here are pix:

I actually looked at that method, but it wasn't as easy for me, but i don't like removing screws from the body panels, i have a tendency to love taking the electronics apart, ;-)

I would say H7, but posting a pic or google search would confirm this

WOW! Reviving an eight-and-a-half-year-old thread! WAY TO GO!! That must be some kind of record! I thought the statute of limitations had been reached, LOL!
