How do I get the lower grill out? I have the regular bumper. Looking to get behind the black crosshair piece that runs between the foglights in the middle of the bumper.

I thought those middle pieces can be removed by yanking it out. There are tabs on the edges of those piece. Saw a DIY on how to replace those pieces with mesh grill at another forum and that was how the guy did it.

 

That's exactly what I'm wanting to do... black mesh behind that grill location. I'll try pulling with enough force to pull it out but not enough to break anything tonight. I was wondering if there might be any screws or anything that requires me to lift the car and get to it from the bottom. There is a rubber piece that looks like it protects that area from the area where my hands will need to get in from below so hopefully someone will have some helpful info. Thanks!!

 

Open hood, remove long rubber that runs across grills will give you access to the top 3 tabs. Once those are out the 2 bottom and 2 side tabs will follow suit. Will require some pull. Gotta watch your bumper paint thou. GL

I think OP was referring to removing the lower cross section of the bumper to insert painted mesh grill for a custom look.

Gotcha. IIRC they can be veritically slid out, but from the inside. The whole bumper needs to be taken off thou. On my 2008 OEM front bumper, I took them out to be repainted at the time I had the rep M5 bumper installed. Try zoom in on pix.

 

just use your fingers just behind the top, left and right sides, there are a couple of simple clips. Sorry camera dead and it is soooo simple to remove if you just look.

 

I removed mine from the front; no need to remove bumper. Just lie down on the ground with a flashlight and small pry tool and you will figure it out.
