How do I take the steering wheel off?

Thank you for the instructions.

I replaced it with a new one. After only 7k miles it looked dried out from the steering wheel heater and felt pretty bad.

Now - as mentioned above - I have the airbag light on and non of the radio buttons work anymore.

Do I need to go to the dealer and check the car in and pick it up later? Or this something they do while I wait?

Did you follow the step in the photo DIY link that said to disconnect the battery first? If you didn't, then I think the airbag warning light has to be reset via computer (at the dealership).

If you disconnected the battery before anything else, then I'm guessing that the light may be on because it's not hooked back up properly. The fact that the radio buttons aren't working either makes me wonder if you connected things back properly...
