So I just installed a set of hella LCI tail lights with hella cables/module. I noticed that the brake lights are lit when I turn on the lights (although quite dim)... whereas the 'real' lci e60 only has the rods lit and the brake bulbs stayed off...

I'm asking for some help if anyone knows how to mod the hella cables to get my tail lights behave just like the real LCI?

here are couple pics I took from the web to compare...

here is how it looks now... with the bulbs behind the rods lit...

and here is the look i'm looking for...

Thanks...! =)

Actually, Hella cable just a tricky name from seller only.

We have three ways to fit it.
1> Buy new light module and coding
2> Buy V6 cable
3> Follow my DIY thread, but the brake light effect in special.

Well i didn't really know to be honest but the workshop which sold me the tails and cables said so... But at least the package box for the tails are hellas... Anyway... I've done some searching...

To me, the v6 cable is too expensive... Well at least for me.. but i'm actually intersted in your mod... I like it! But i'm not really a electornic chap... And i couldn't really understand the diy...

Will i still need the current 'hella cables' that i have if i go with your mod?

If you don't mind, i would like stop by your thread and ask some really beginner questions...

Where did you buy the lights and what cable are you using?
If you open the back of the lights do they have something soldered on the motherboard?

The reason I ask is I bought a set from a tuner in holland and they had been moddified and when the lights were on it looked just like yours!

I cut off the soldered pieces and bought Bruce's V6 cables and now they work perfectly!

he has bought what I warn people about NOT to buy. These are NOT, did I NOT made by Hella. They are simply branded as Hella. Do you really think Hella would sell you a cableset that doesn't even come with a plug on one end!!

This is unfortunately yet another case of trying to be penny wise and then spending again. Can't even remember the number of people who've bought this Hella cable and then bought the V6 from me.

I'll try to open up my trunk and take a photo of the cables. And btw, I've asked the official hella distributor here, and they said they carry a cable + module kit for the pre lci e60 to be installed along with the tails. And i know, i didnt bother to check the forums before buying the tails + cables...
