My Ride: 530d M Sport Carbon Black Beige Leather 172 wheels HGSL Logic HiFi Ipod Privacy Glass Adaptive Xenons

Hi

Just had my car in for the second time the adaptive Xenon on the drivers side was pointing directly to the ground. Result a complete new lamp unit thanks for warranty but I now drive and the balance between left and right is wrong the RHS is pointing about 15 feet lower on the spread of the light from the left

Given Ive been in twice now for the same thing and cant be bothered making the 60 mile round trip to go back for only this does anyone know if it is possible to adjust the hight of the lamp without going into the dealers?

What country are you in? You may or may not have a problem with the aim now. Usually, the driver's side beam is aimed a bit lower to avoid blinding oncoming traffic. If you're in one of those places where they drive on the wrong side of the car/wrong side of the road then maybe it's working okay?

It's even a bit more complicated than that. The driver's side light is not necessarily low.

Each light throws a pattern that ideally looks "low" on the drivers side. Pull the car up to a wall, turn on the lights, and you should see something like pattern shown in the attached file. Each light should be even.

I agree that it's a bit more complicated. My point is that the usual complaint is that one side is "low" and often times the headlights are aligned to specifications.

In some of the older headlight aiming threads, you'll see that I usually warn people about messing with the alignment since you can mess it up enough to be hazardous to other drivers, etc.

Here's a link to more information on aim:
