I've got a very annoying rattle on the left dash-trim piece, which covers the headlight control.
Is it the same procedure in removing the left-side, as in the pic above?

Thanks!
NO. you must pry out the headlight switch panel first, then unscrew the vent before you can pop off the left side piece.

ask me how I know.

Thanks for the response Felix. When I got in the car, I realized that the squeaking noise is actually coming from the headlight switch panel. Do I need to start prying anywhere in particular? -- And do tell how you know this.

the headlight switch panel pries out, the clips are on all 4 corners. much tighter fit than the wood trim. I found out the hard way by breaking my friend's a/c vent in removing the trim (mine came out, but not easily. His vent just gave way first.) so, I had to buy a new vent for him.

You may or many not get all of the clips out when you remove the switch. if so, remove them from the dash and re-attach them to the switch tightly before you press the switch back into place.

Thanks Felix. I'll give it a try tonight.

Hi team, great pictures. It's explain itself.
Did you have it for the center console and the door trims?

Here's a link to a guide that covers the removal of the centre trim cover

Its fairly straight forward to do, just be careful removing the idrive knob...

Thanks to those who posted the pics. I followed your instructions on taking apart my 2005 545i dash. I successfully installed an iPod integration kit and all is back together and awaiting dealer activation. It was really helpful to see the pictures.
