Both std and L7 has 200mm (8") subs under front seats. Std is 40W and L7 is 70W. Freq response is 30Hz - 500Hz.
My530i, Here's the measurements for the mounting depth attached in a pic. Also, the mounting dia. is an ~8" hole.....Hope the info helps.....Here's a question, is the Freq. Response the same for both systems?.....

Thank you Coastal CV.
The freq response are the same for both system. I'm 90% sure. The other 10% could be due to memory loss

Now, we're thinking about upgrading the underseat sub. This could be a best candidate I can find thus far. It's Earthquake SWS-8 model.

That upgraded model might fit but it will probably protrude above the cover plate...

Rudy, that's what I'm worried about, but there's approx 3/4" of gap between the mounting lip and the cover plate, so hopefully it'll work. MY530i, I'm looking at getting the Earthquake SWS's too. But there doesn't seem to be that many places that sell them online. I may have to go to a referred to local shop and have them order it. I did find out that Pioneer will be offering shallow-depth subs, but not until May 06. I'm not sure I want to wait that long.....Attached is the diagram again, but with a couple more dimensions and kind of shows how the mounting lip is 3/4" below the cover plate.....

You can get it here:

or

I'll upgrade my sound system once Uncle Sam refunds me some money

The cheapest I can find on the internet is $140. If you find other place cheaper, please let me know. I'd be interested to get a pair then.
Do you think 70W for each sub is too weak? I guess min 100W for each sub should be good.

That is my concern, too. Front seat rail will obstruct the new sub from protruding above the cover plate. I'm also thinking about put a 10" sub in the middle between two rear speaker sets.

so the sws sub does indeed protrude over the cover plate? does this mean that you cant put the cover plate on after installing the new sub? if u have pics of your installation, that would be great!
