I posted a week ago about my encounter with a curb. Scratched the lower right front fender and scraped my rim very nicely. Sh&t! Thats not all.

Noticed the other day that the (black) front underbody lip is cracked off on the right side. I'm not sure if the lip runs the full width of the car and whether its a single peice or not.

Has anyone tried to fix this themselves? I'd hate to pay $500 for job if I could do it. The part is likely expensive as well. Beside, I like messing around, to a degree, with cars anyway.

Any thoughts?

It happens to me a twice. I have not fixed the final one yet. Because mine is Alpine White color, it's not easily detectable with naked eyes standing 3ft away from my car if I painted it with touch-up paint. Quick and dirty, but it solves the solution for now.
If you want to do a good job, use sand paper and sand down those scratch lines and repaint it with touch up paint. It does not make any sense to pay for $500 to do it unless it kills you every time you see the touch up part

No. The underbody lip is under the car and is likley make of rubber or some type of plastic. Its black and is positioned just forward of the front wheel wells and, I think, runs the width of the car.

If you are talking about the black deflector that protrudes down from the wheel well in front of the tire then it's like a $15-20 piece of plastic that can be replaced with some minor fiddling. I replaced my right one when a piece of truck tire took it out.

I think he's talking about another piece of black plastic which is about 5-8 inches behind the front of the car. Looks like plastic to me, runs the whole width, and is probably one piece. It's very easily damaged by parking-lot curbstops (or whatever they're called). I bet it's a DIY repair, depending on how it's attached to the plastic bumper. Not a lot of clearance under there, though...
