I want to replace the flash-to-pass bulbs with a color that will more closely match the bi-xenons, HID upgraded fogs and upgraded angel eyes. Is the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra a good choice for replacement bulbs; are the bulbs H7's; and how do you replace them?

it would help if you told us the year of e60...LCI or pre-LCI...

I would think you are in a pre-LCI as LCI models use the inner light as the cornering light....

either way, I honestly think the instructions for the flash to pass bulb are in your manual...

for pre-LCI AE's:

or

LCI AE's, again...it's in the manual...

Pre-LCI (2006 550i built in 2005). Unfortunately the User's Manual doesn't discuss the flash-to-pass light bulb at all (I had trouble even determining what type bulb it is; which I believe is an H7). It shows how to replace the halogen headlights (if you have halogens) and tells you to take it in to have the xenon bulb replaced.

they are H7 bulbs. one thing to keep in mind though, the silver star bulbs have good light output, but dont last as long as ordinary bulbs, since they burn hotter.

also, when the inner light is on when the car is running, or driving without the headlights on, those bulbs dont get full power. so maybe the silverstars will still look yellowish. those lights are at full power only when you flash the high beams(pull the turn signal torwards you). when the high beams are full on (push turn signal forward), the xenon lamp is used.

what you should get are the OSRAM Night Breaker.
