Yeah, a few members have just cut a hole and install the grilles. I had someone do mine as I didn't have the tool, but if you were to search, Rizbel made a DIY thread of how he did his. He basically took a dremel to it and got it done in an afternoon.

I installed M5 fenders into my 2004 530D couple of weeks ago. There's a DIY thread if you need it.
525iEnjoy is partially right on that you would need to change the front bumper to OEM M5 bumper as well, because the fenders are a bit wider and very slightly different in shape in the front corners (where they meet the bumper). However, I kept my OEM MTech front bumper and was able to make the fenders sit nicely with it.

So, if you don't want to change the front bumper, you will save some money. You will need at least the parts that I mentioned in my DIY thread (inner wheel housings L+R and fenders L+R and some rivets). I ordered mine from the dealer and got them in great price, 850?. Of course I had to get them painted, which was 300?.

You can get the fenders for $384 a piece by shopping at getbmwparts.com...but you will pay a little in shipping as well:

I get stuff fairly cheap through the stealership but even the stealership can't beat the price of these fenders at getbmwparts.com.
