E60 diesel oil change ? what oil so on...

Hi need the change the oil, its 3500 to the oil service...
Car is sounding loud, yes I know its a diesel. A friend who works in a garage recommend topping it up with some oil it makes it quiter apprently.
I was thinking of doing the oil service myslef and change the filter and then get bmw to do the serivce at a later time maybe in 10,000 miles for the stamp.
What oil and what filter do I use, have bmw got part numbers for these..

You almost certainly need an oil rated to BMW Long Life 04. This limits your choices considerably. Get the filter from BMW; the oil you can get anywhere.
