My Ride: 2007 BMW E60, Titanium Silver with original BMW Mtec front, aprons, M5 trunk cover, badging, de-chroming, M5 steering wheel, M5 mags BBK JBT 380 mm 6 pot front 355 4 pot rear / Eibach Pro Spring Kit - ICE - Genisis LOC converter, Alpine Multi Media Manager, DLS Ultimate Big 5 amp, Morel Elate 6 front speakers, MB Quart rear speakers, 2 sets SEAS Lotus 10" subs, IPOD interface via Harman Kardon Drive+Play, Critical Mass 10 Farad power capacitor, best of both worlds... Also Bluetooth interface, M5 original sport exhaust, M door sills, and more...
A few weeks ago added a JBT BBK, the F1 version with titanium pistons, ss lines etc. Ordered the kit it came perfectly packed and looked great. Fitment was plug and play, no spacers or fiddling about, it went right on in place of the stock calipers and rotors. I have the 19" M5 mags, so I could fit the following: Front 380 mm 6 pot / rear 355 mm 4 pot. Pads I was told were AP Racing (guess they fit the JBT calipers).
Now JBT is not the best known brand, but we compared them to a Brembo set before we installed and they looked every bit as robust and well made. Rotors looked also perfect.
I know JBT is a US "assembled" brand, but actually it is manufactured in Taiwan. In any case I am based here in Asia, and had good access via my Taipei office and great support in the purchase, they were very nice to deal with. I did order an extra set of pads with the set just to keep one set on hand.
In performance, we took the car to BIRA race track and gave it a whipping, the brakes performed well. Now - I do not normally use this car for track days, but after some egging on by my "friends" we gave it a go. In any case they will be well over the requirement for my daily driving (and the last time I put my car through that,,,)
The size fills up the front wheels great, even thought the rears are big, they look small when compared to the fronts. Guess that is normally the case.
I also added the rear trunk cover (it covers the area where the license plate is) got it from BMW as an original M5 part, didn't have time to make a photo, but it looks great. Got it from Rover Active in the US.
Just thought I would share.
Thanks,
Ted

M badge on Side Grille?!!
Conisder an imported M5 here costs 500,000 US Dollars with tax and customs (dealer list). You may get one for 400,000 USD if you are lucky!!?? A 530 here costs 140,000 US Dollars, again due to tax in Thailand (and that is one CKD locally!!). Being from the USA it is hard to accept such crazy prices, but it is in fact the case. So out here most people get a 530, hot up the engine what they can, take it to BMW and have them swap all the parts for original M5 parts where possible (or worse go to a local "shack" and buy cheap re-production parts). Or they win the lotto and hand over 1/2 million for a real M5... (still trying the lotto solution with no success yet...)... As a result and my failure at winning the lotto I have a lot of new stock E60 parts for sale that came off my car even before it was delivered (I did buy all parts from BMW as original parts though). I had to buy the car as is and pay extra for any changes. So lots of parts in my guest house...!!! Jealous of you guys still in the US that can buy a real flesh and blood M5 at a normal cost and enjoy it. Had the car now 5 months and have only driven about 3000 km (1500 miles). No time to drive it - and use my truck when going diving to throw the equipment in etc. So big cost and mostly I sit and look at it... Sick? Crazy? Yes I am. BMW's seem to do that to me... Cheers
