This past Friday, I got the Increased Emissions (Emissions-Related Fault) and Service Engine Soon warnings. It hasn?t turned off, so I was wondering if any South Bay, CA member owns an OBD-II (onboard diagnostic) code scanner. My car seems to be running fine, but I?m curious to know the fault code. I?ve read some OBD-II scanners also allow you to reset the Service Engine Soon light. I live in San Jose and work in Cupertino, so if you?d like to help a fellow member out that would be great! Member lilazngrl4o8 also from San Jose is hoping to use one too.

Anyone?

If you're going to the NorCal meet this Saturday, I'll treat you to lunch to say thanks for using your OBD-II code scanner...

If not, I'll probably just buy one from Kragen next week or something... costs around $100.. thought I could just save some money

harborfreight.com - find local store.

It's probably less than $70.

I found out from a coworker that Napa Auto Parts sometimes lets customers use their OBD-II scanner for free, so I gave a call to the Napa Auto on Monterey Road in SJ and the guy said it was cool if I use theirs... so I'll stop by after work to see which error code I get.. save me $70-100 dollars on buying one and only using it a few times...

Also, I found this website http://www.canobd2.com/ that has a really easy search tool for OBD codes.

Why not buy one from Kragen, use it, then return it?

I used an OBD-II code scanner and it came back with code "P0172 : System too Rich (Bank 1)". I'm doing some reading online and depending on which auto forum you read, code P0172 can be caused by a few things like a dirty MAF sensor, a crack in the vacuum hose that leads to the MAF sensor, or even low gas (see: http://www.obd-codes.com/p0172).

Anybody here have any ideas on "P0172 : System too Rich (Bank 1)"?

It can also be the AFE intake, I have the same situation, I ordered the OBD scanner and waiting to reset it, I had a small area that was open where air may have gone in. So I'm pretty sure thats my cause and can be your's as well
