OP - Lifetime does not mean the color will not change. Do not get mixed up in the "color" of oils by determining them. Transmission Safe mode simply means that there is 1 gear, 3rd gear available. Seeming that you cannot put the car in gear would tell me it's something related to transmission though.

Thanks for your help guys. Brought it to the dealer after I tried for hours gettin limited tools to loosen that transmission fill bolt. Couldn't get it off or the life of me. Brought it to dealer. Ended up ring the pressure line for tranny oil cooler. The guys who replaced it on the car when it was rebuilt used a regular hose instead of pressure line.

Found carfx telling me it was deemed totaled after a minor front end accident where the airbag was deployed. I must now consider selling it for dirt cheap or keeping it and let the repairs come with $$$$$ out of my pocket.

I just followed this DIY. Everything went smoothly. I have an XI model, so I had to undo the driveshaft from the transfer case, but luckily there`s a bracket for the undercarriage where it can rest on out of my way.
I drained 5.5liters but I had to put back 5.8liters of LRN13754 (SHELL M1375-4 from Land Rover dealer) for the fluid to flow out of the fill hole at 49 degrees.
It would be better to do this when the car is cold, as I had to drive to a DIY rent-a-lift garage for 30 minutes, so when I got there, the tranny was really hot and I had to rush to fill it because on INPA, my gearbox temperature was hovering around 44-49...
Now I wonder if I didn`t overfill by 300ml...

I also reset the adaptation values for the tranny and the shifting is a tad smoother vs before (it was already smooth). The old drained fluid was black with a tint of yellow under light. Car has 120 000miles and it was the first change with filter.

I've written an error report about the missing pictures...

Finally got around to draining and refilling the transmission fluid and here's what it looked like after 77k miles. Felt like I was overdue by at least 25k miles - if not longer. Didn't drop the pan, and was able to get 4.5 Liters out. Saw a tiny little bit of seepage around the mechatronics sleeve, but not something I need to tackle just yet. I reset the adaptives via DIS and there is a huge improvement in the quality of the shifting.

Cool. The color of the oil doesn't mean anything. If you took the same car with 10K miles the oil will look the same as yours pictured above. It's not about the color it's about the properties...and those you cannot see with eyeballs.
