The paint on the plastic panel surrounding the window switch (encircled in blue below) on my car has started to peel. Apologies to Iceman..... I had to borrow his picture. I have now ordered a new piece and dealer is charging me so much to install/replace it. Does anyone here have an idea how to take this piece out? I can probably save $$$ if I can do this myself. Thanks.DIY: Power Window Switch panel removal-e60_window_switch.jpg

I agree that it should be covered under warranty unless there's evidence that the peeling was caused by abuse or neglect, I suppose.

That said, click here and follow the directions in order to learn how to do what you want. (You can skip step three as it pertains to the front door...)

Thanks everyone. Dealer here in the Philippines said that this is a common problem for early built e60s. Noticed the same on other cars as well.....probably because of our tropical weather. They also said that this wont be covered under warranty since it may be caused by other reasons Anyway, the part that I need costs around US$40. I'll just have to try to install it myself.

As your car is from the 2004 it should still be covered by the builder/dealer warranty. They should replace it for free. I noticed that on my 2003 E60, but on ther front door, just few weeks before it turned 2 years. The dealer has changed it and of course for free.
