That'll be great if you can post more additional steps and possibly all the materials necessary.

I am a newb when it comes to electrical engineering, but this is damn sexy.

Please don't use relay, relay is not solid-state and will fading after thousand time on and off.

Great look, great DIY

However, notice that it wouldn't be street legal in Sweden/Denmark (and maybe Europe?)

I won't bore you with the actual EU-legislation

First, the light is too bright. It should be between 40 and 100 cd. (rear fog light should be 150 to 300 cd)

Second, the stop light and the rear fog light should only be operated independently

(Third - I must admit, I didn't measure - the stop lights must be 0,6 meters apart from each other)

Open-mind to discuss is good for mod Luckily, I would not drive my E60 to Euro Country. J/K

I found from realoem catalog, original brake light use 12V 21W light bulb and Fog light use 12V 16W light bulb.
I still afraid not brighter enough after change over position.

Second, the stop light and the rear fog light should only be operated independently
I assume 90% driver never turn on rear fog light. So I change over as brake light function.

(Third - I must admit, I didn't measure - the stop lights must be 0,6 meters apart from each other)
I really haven't 0.6 meters apart concept

Okay, I think we have to end this discsussion

My point wasn't whether or not driving your specific car to Europe could cause you trouble. Nor was my point whether or not the EU legislation is fair/understandable.

The EU rules on this particular subject are as mentioned in my thread above.

Some of the members on this board actually drive around in Europe every day as they are living here, and my point was (1) that it was a great mod and (2) that European E60 owners should be aware that the mod is illegal in Europe and therefore consider this before making the mod.

Great post, I like the idea of showing off the rods even when at stop lights. Just defeats the purpose on how they set up the brake lights in the first place.
