My Ride: 2005 530i...just bought so in progress...dont know where to start???
Want to do:
LCI Tails, Xenon Headlights, Tints, Wheels, Trunk and Roof Spoiler, iPod Adapter...the list goes on.
yes i would like to know the complications you came across as well?? I did a spring install on a buddies older 5 back in high school with simple hand tools and a floor jack...

Strut is tooooooo long that it is not as easy pull to slide it out from the hub w/o removing/dropping the hub (aka removing control arms).
Hub clamps the strut about 1/2 way. Imagine how much room needed to slide it out.
Damn strut will seize into the hub (more than likely) and the hub clamp is a MAJOR BITCH to pry out
I've seen some E90 owner compressed the spring while the strut is still attached to the hub. It can be done but it's still a PITA.
Rear is easy to do and fairly straight forward
Those are my complains after DIYing my H&R Sport on my 545

If youve done a e39 before, you should be able to do the E60. I personally think the E39 is harder because you have to pull the rear seats, rear piller covers and rear speakers out.
