I think there is another component near the spare tire area that might have gotten wet that may cause this issue. However, I think BMW already fixed that on the 2008 models.

Still no sound in the car
Do you think the amplifier has to be programmed, or just like diversity antenna need to work on the same frequency? Or they all have the same frequency to begin with? Thank you

What is white thing next to ground screw
Hi-
What is the white item in the first photo? This is an image behind the C-pillar covering, right? Is this an airbag? If so, is there a danger of activating this when removing the cover?
Thanks

Yes, it is behind C-pillar. No sure what that white item was, it could be airbag. C-pillar cover does not touch that white item at all. There is ample of room/space between cover and this item. If you have concern, you can disconnect battery first and then proceed.

Brilliant write up thank you! Only took about 20 mins to replace my faulty amplifier today using this guide, first bit of diy on the new car done. Key fob works great now, I don't have to look like an idiot anymore getting it to lock and unlock

Photobucket stopped free image hosting - not able to see photos anymore. I will try to upload them directly here.
Pictures upload is done.

My car has only done 2.000 miles and the keys don't work, I purchased a new one from BMW and that don't work either, now have to book car into workshops to try and find problem , hardly think it could be the diversity thing but it has got me thinking now

E60 issues
Guys, thanks for the great info on this old thread. Got a related question; I recently bought my 530i very used.
a previous owner had driven some of the plastic fingers holding the diversity amp in. Is it possible to find a replacement bracket? With some missing fingers, I feel like the metal contacts may not be staying in touch with the metal pads.
